Mauritanian Journalists Union Elects New Leadership
Ahmed Salem Ould Sidi Abdallah was elected president of the Mauritanian Journalists Syndicate (SJM) at its fifth congress, with the "Professional Autonomy" slate winning decisively with 440 votes. The election took place at the Mokhtar Ould Daddah Congress Palace in Nouakchott, though some journalist groups boycotted the process citing concerns about legal and professional safeguards.
